NDIS funding: Core Supports – Assistance with Daily Life

Three generations of a family smiling together around a table

Short Term Accommodation (STA), often called respite, funds a short supported stay away from your usual home — up to 14 days at a time. It might be a weekend to try new activities and meet new people, or a planned break that gives your family or carers time to recharge.

What this support includes

  • Comfortable, accessible short-stay accommodation
  • 24/7 support during your stay
  • Meals, activities and community outings included
  • Planned stays or emergency arrangements
  • A chance to trial living away from home before a bigger move

Common questions

How long can I stay?

STA covers stays of up to 14 days at a time. Many participants book a regular pattern, such as one weekend a month.
